Ground officially broken on new 60-home affordable housing development by Flagship Homes

  • Work is under way on new 60-home development by Flagship Homes and contractor Lovell
  • The new homes, an even split of affordable rent and shared ownership homes, are built using highly efficient i-House technology
  • Completion on the site, supported by grant funding from Homes England, is expected by March 2025

Representatives from Flagship Homes, contractor Lovell, groundworker Bateman Groundworks, and Aecom attended a turf-cutting ceremony to celebrate breaking ground on the new Homes England-funded 60-home Crown View development in Great Ellingham, near Attleborough in Norfolk.

This new development aims to bring much-needed housing to help the growth of the local community. The site will comprise a mix of 30 affordable rent properties, to help people and families secure affordable, stable housing; and 30 shared ownership homes to help prospective homeowners take their first steps onto the property ladder.

The homes are being built using i-House technology, a type of Modern Method of Construction (MMC) that allows for much quicker placement of building materials, meaning a much faster construction process compared to traditional builds. This results in highly efficient homes, bringing savings for future tenants.

Tony Tann, Managing Director at Flagship Homes, expressed his enthusiasm about this project: “Crown View represents our continued dedication to addressing the housing needs of the local community. By offering a mix of both affordable and shared ownership housing, we aim to meet the needs of a diverse and evolving housing market.

Great Ellingham is a beautiful part of Norfolk and we’re excited to have Lovell as our contractor on this development. We’re really looking forward to welcoming new tenants and enhancing the vibrancy of the area with these homes.

We are grateful for the support of Breckland District Council for sharing our vision for this development and also to Homes England whose grant, secured under our Strategic Partnership, has made this scheme deliverable.”

Simon Medler, Managing Director at Lovell said: “Great Ellingham is a lovely village near Attleborough and is just 16 miles from Norwich. Located in a picturesque setting, the location and quality of the homes being built will ensure there is a lot of interest in this site.

Working with Flagship Homes, along with Bateman Groundworks and Aecom, we are bringing much needed affordable housing which has the benefits of i-House, including a reduction in waste on site and a high quality product.”

Overall site completion of Crown View is anticipated for March 2025, with plans to begin welcoming new tenants to the site from summer 2024.
